[00:00] If you hang out with losers, you’re going to become a loser.

Hey guys, this is Justin Prince. Les Brown, one of the famous motivational speakers in the world, his mama told him when he was a little boy, she said “Baby, you hang out with losers, you’re going to become a loser.” The birds of a feather will flock together. One of the greatest success principles you can learn is to ask yourself the question who am I hanging out with? Who are the people I surround myself with? The people you surround yourself with most, your life will reflect their life. Are you liking the reflection you’re seeing with the people you’re surrounding yourself with? Your income, how much money you make every year will be a reflection of the five people you surround yourself with most.

[00:47] Your bank account balance will be a reflection of the five people you surround yourself with most. In fact, the New England Journal of Medicine did a study over three decades that said that obesity can spread like a virus. This is what the research said, it said that if you have obese friends around you, you’re 57% more likely to become obese. Now the same thing was true for people getting in physical fitness, but over a 30-year period, more people were trending towards unhealthy versus healthy. Who you hang out with matters. They’re a reflection on your life.

[01:15] I’m going to share with you what I call the 3 E’s and the 3 D’s. The 3 E’s are people that you want to associate more with, and find more time with. The 3 D’s are people you want to either eliminate, or limit your time with every day. Here’s the 3 E’s. Number one is encouragers. People say you can do it. You want to surround yourself with people who encourage you and believe in you and believe in your future. Number two is empowerers, people who will empower you. These are people who say “Not only can you do it, but how can I help you? I’ll empower with what I have.” Number three is people who equip you. Someone who equips you actually give you the resources, the mentoring, the training, the tools, the referrals, the leads, they not only encourage, you can do it, they not only empower you saying “Hey, how can I help?” They specifically give you the resources. The 3 D’s are people you want to either eliminate or at least limit your time with. These are the discouragers, people who say “You can’t do it, or it can’t be done.” Limit your time with that person, or eliminate that person from your life. Number two is the demeaners, people who just demean everything you have to say like “You’re stupid. The idea is stupid. Your path that you’re on, it’s stupid.” Okay, they demean everything you have to do, they talk down to you. Either eliminate that person or at least limit that person’s effect on your life. Lastly is all the disapprovers, people who disapprove of everything that you have to do, all your goals, all your dreams. They don’t fit their social norm.

[02:35] What I’m going to share with you is this, the disapprovers say “I don’t support you. I don’t believe in you. I don’t support this path.” Look, this is your journey, and you have to live and chase your dreams, you can’t always try and fit into the social norms of everybody. You will have some people who disapprove of the vision that you have for your future. You either have to eliminate or at least limit your time with the disapprover. Remember, the 3 E’s, associate yourself more with people that believe in you, and disassociate or limit your time with the people that are the 3 D’s, that are pulling you down.

[03:09] Remember this guys, your goals, your dreams, they’re important, you’re pursuing them, it’s worth it. Your accomplishing them is necessary.
